Some Technical InformationAuthor: Sigilis Published: 2024-11-25 19:40 EST I want to put down some technical details about this site, before it inevitably gets washed away and replaced with site v.2 or replaced one element at a time Ship of Theseus style.ConceptMy main motivation for the site was to have a terminal like interface where the letters come out like they were being set over an old fashioned modem, so there were a lot of ways to go about it. I considered all the cool frameworks and even the one that I use at my job. Frameworks, however, are mostly about working with other people, to provide a common means of interacting and composing a larger software project. Considering I am one person and the software project is small, I have decided that i will use only a limited number of technologies.Technologies

Go: Serves the blog from template files in their template language, hydrates so that non JS users get something, even if they don't get the snazzy letter by letter loading.

Javascript: Does all the heavy lifting for making things move around and behave how I want them to.

HTML/CSS: Makes things look how I want to.

This blog doesn't even have a database backing it. it's all markdown files on the file system so I can compose these in Obsidian.I don't really track anything about usage, since I don't care that anyone reads this except for me in the future.The FutureThe idea of the terminal is to support other functionality other than the blog, as I desire it, as well as showcase how such an interface could work. I am thinking of other apps, such as a TUI that allows changing settings rather than the current command line like affair. I have consider implementing functionality like pipes, grep, curl, ps, etc. and they might come into being as the mood strikes me.Any suggestions about future functionality should be written in the notebook to my left, so if you're not me you might want to contact me on bluesky
